DUETcare provides face to face & online dementia courses, study days, webinars and training through its Finding the Light in Dementia brand (click through on the bold text) and includes access to a self- directed online dementia training programme that ‘significantly impacts on practice.”

The focus of the DUETcare™ philosophy is to develop a connection between the individual requiring care and all persons enabling, empowering or providing their care. As a result of the training, staff and caregivers feel more confident and safe in their roles and people with complex conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s disease feel understood. We also care about our trainees with our Activity Books, Reflective Journals and Wellbeing Hub that are carefully designed to promote their personal and professional development.
Based on core values of putting the care back into Health and Social Care, DUETcare™ focuses on the person with the condition and the people around them – this is at the heart of our training programmes.

DUETcare™ training is co created with people living with chronic conditions, caregivers and leading professionals and researchers in the field and is based on up to date person centred research. Our resources are creative, innovative and enjoyable with films, audios, animations and presentations.

Our training programmes encompass both health and social care settings i.e. residential and nursing and medical care, domiciliary and care management environments and have been developed from a number of sources:

Person and Carer involvement
The design and flexibility of DUETcare™ has been informed by listening to the voice and observing people with such conditions through both practitioner experience and through the PhD research interviews and conversations carried out by  Dr Jane Mullins, creator of DUETcare™
Jane’s experience extends to facilitating research with people who have dementia, creative industry personnel and designers to explore solutions for some of the challenges they face due to their condition. She has also been a researcher on the Hearing Loss in Place study at Swansea University aiming to increase understanding of the difficulties people with hearing loss experience in a variety of noisy and distracting places and how such noise affects not only hearing, but also attention, cognition, wellbeing and social interaction. The evidence will form the basis of addressing the problem and raise awareness of the issue amongst the public, retail & travel sectors and in making hearing loss-related changes to environments.
